Former Idaho Supreme Court Justice John Stegner launched his campaign for governor, introducing a statewide movement centered on principled leadership, integrity and restoring confidence in Idaho's future. Stegner is entering the race because he believes the state’s current leadership is falling short in its responsibilities to citizens. He believes the state needs a governor willing to lead with principle rather than bending to external pressures. Running as an independent candidate, Stegner’s campaign is rooted in a simple belief: when something isn't working, leaders have a responsibility to step up. "Those elected to listen, solve problems and serve the people of Idaho aren't showing up the way they should," Stegner said. "And if we don't change course, we risk losing what has always made this state special. A strength like Idaho's has never happened by accident—it has always been earned. It depends on people and leaders who are willing to step in when something isn't working. I believe Idaho can do better, and I'm ready to do the work." A lifelong Idahoan, Stegner spent decades serving the people of Idaho as an attorney, district judge and justice on the Idaho Supreme Court. Throughout his career, he became known for approaching every decision with fairness, humility and a deep respect for the Constitution. Whether pioneering treatment courts for the state, resolving complex legal disputes or authoring thoughtful opinions—including standing in dissent—Stegner earned a reputation for putting integrity above politics and people above partisanship. “The best ideas come from listening to the people you're elected to serve," Stegner said. "Throughout my career, I wasn't beholden to parties or political insiders. My responsibility was to the Constitution, to the law and to doing what was right. Desi and Morgan believed their pregnancy was a miracle. After more than two years of trying and praying for another child, Desi became pregnant in late 2023. The couple already had two children and excitedly informed the others about the new baby by placing a new stocking labeled “Baby” out for Christmas. At Desi’s 20-week ultrasound, the couple traveled to Boise excited to see their baby during the anatomy scan. That’s when everything changed. Doctors discovered that something was seriously wrong with the pregnancy. But because of Idaho’s abortion ban, the medical team could not explain the care that Desi needed or discuss options. Instead, they urged the couple to seek care in Utah immediately. Desi and Morgan began the drive to Salt Lake City without fully understanding the severity of the situation. During the drive, a doctor from Utah called and explained the reality they were facing. The pregnancy had become life-threatening, and the care Desi needed could not be provided in Idaho because of the state’s abortion ban. Far from home Desi received the care she needed and began grieving the loss of their son. The couple named him Tucker Finn. But bringing him home was another painful ordeal. Because the procedure happened out of state, they faced weeks of legal paperwork and logistical hurdles before Tucker’s remains could be returned to Idaho. At one point, his remains were even lost in the mail. Desi and Morgan’s experience is one of many stories emerging across Idaho as families navigate pregnancy complications under the state’s abortion ban. Today, the couple shares their stories to help others understand how Idaho laws can affect families facing unthinkable complications.

Andy and Nicky, college sweethearts, have been married for 10 years. Both come from large families and always knew they wanted one of their own. When they discovered Nicky was pregnant, they were overjoyed. At 12 weeks, the night before a routine appointment, everything changed. Nicky spent the evening in pain before she began bleeding. Unsure of what was happening, Andy rushed her to the emergency room. At the hospital, they were told Nicky was miscarrying and that they’d lost the baby. But instead of receiving care, they were sent home and told to expect what was described to them as a heavy period. What followed was far from that. Nicky spent 17 days in constant pain as her body continued having contractions, bleeding heavily and growing weaker by the day. Andy remembers feeling helpless, watching his wife suffer and not understanding why they weren’t being given more support. They returned to doctors again and again, asking for help, but were told to wait. It wasn’t until Nicky’s condition worsened that she was finally offered a surgical procedure—a D&C—to complete the miscarriage. The relief was immediate. Weeks of labor, pain and distress were completely avoidable. Looking back, the couple was left with one question: why wasn’t this offered sooner? In Idaho, a miscarriage is classified as a ‘spontaneous abortion,’ meaning care can fall under the same laws. Because of the state’s abortion ban, doctors face criminalization when providing certain types of care or guidance. For patients like Nikcy, that can mean delays, confusion, and prolonged suffering during already devastating moments. Like many others, Nicky and Andy didn’t realize these laws could affect them until they did. They are sharing their story because they don’t want other families to go through this.

This film explores the @KovichCo design philosophy behind The Avery Hotel project, a historic architectural landmark originally constructed in 1910 and located in the heart of downtown Boise. Originally constructed in 1910, the building once operated as the Manitou Hotel, serving travelers on its upper floors while housing businesses like the Bouquet Bar, a cigar shop, and the Bos/Strand Theater below. After ceasing operations in the 1960s, the building fell into disrepair until renovations began on what now houses The Avery Hotel, The Avery Bar & Restaurant, and Tiner's Alley Tavern. The renovation focused on preserving the building’s historical character while reimagining it as a boutique hotel rooted in authenticity. The design vision centered on honoring the building’s 1920–1935 heyday, blending functional elegance with period-appropriate details. The design process involved extensive historical research, including the study of original architectural drawings, historic documents, and even a 1910 Sears Roebuck catalog to better understand the materials, furnishings, and design decisions that would have been accessible at the time. One example of this research-driven approach is the custom latticework room dividers found in select suites—an architectural solution inspired by early 20th-century design that balances privacy and openness. This film explores the design and installation process behind The Avery Hotel, a historic boutique hotel, restaurant, and tavern in downtown Boise, Idaho - where every design decision was informed by the building’s rich architectural past. Led by our team at @KovichCo Interiors, we approached the project with the intention of creating individuality without visual chaos - an essential balance for a 39-room boutique hotel. Rather than repeating rooms, expression came through furniture, art, textiles, and accessories that felt layered, intentional, and era-appropriate. To guide the design, four fictional guest personalities were created. Edna, Isham, Egon, and Teddy each influenced materials, furnishings, and art selections throughout the hotel. The hotel features more than 300 carefully curated and unique works of art - vintage, antique, and newly commissioned - alongside 85 pieces of antique furniture, each carefully restored to feel as though it had always belonged. Complex logistics required every item to be sourced, tracked, shipped, received, and inspected with precision. Additionally, two commissioned works by local Boise artist Jany Rae Seda directly reference the building’s history, including a reinterpretation of a historic photograph tied to the site. The result is a hotel experience that feels effortless, personal, and deeply connected to its era.
